ABOUT ARTIST
Katie Lloyd
Emerging from a deep rut and the challenges of early sobriety, I found my passion for art in the most unexpected way. Invited to a 6 AM dance party called Daybreaker, I transitioned from struggling to get out of bed to moving with energy and joy among others.
This transformative experience inspired me to channel my emotions into creativity, leading me to grab the paint and start throwing vibrant colors onto my collages, confronting the “bills in the closet” that weighed me down.
Initially intimidated by the idea of painting, I discovered that embracing my feelings through art was a powerful form of expression. Painting became a lifeline, allowing me to transfer my struggles onto the canvas without fear of judgment or perfection.
My journey began with a spontaneous investment of my last dollars into art supplies, fueling a creative spiral that birthed works like “Broken Record of Trauma.”
At the heart of my art lies the exploration of life's dualities—the beauty and darkness that coexist. My style, which I describe as where “darkness meets glam-n-glitter,” reflects this theme of polarity.

I use play and a rebellious spirit against perfectionism to create pieces that resonate with my own experiences and emotions. Through my work, I hope to convey the message that the voids often filled by destructive habits—whether they be food, drugs, or validation—can instead be transformed into something beautiful.
I want viewers to feel deeply and recognize that opposing emotions can exist simultaneously. Vulnerability plays a crucial role in my art, as sharing personal themes fosters connection and understanding.
Ultimately, I want my art to serve as a space for healing, movement, and emotional release. I invite viewers to embrace their feelings, reminding them that it’s okay to experience both light and dark.
My journey as an artist is ongoing, and I’m excited to continue exploring these themes while inspiring others to find their own paths to expression.

ARTIST WORDS
"Art is my way of translating the chaos of life into something beautiful, something tangible. Each stroke, each layer is a piece of my soul, a reflection of the world as I see it—raw, vibrant, and unapologetically real."
